    About our Pelé news

Latest news on Pelé, a Brazilian former footballer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. He is best known for his time with the Brazilian national team, where he won three World Cup titles and is the all-time leading goalscorer for both Brazil and the world. Pele is also known for his successful club career, where he played for Santos FC in Brazil and New York Cosmos in the United States. He was known for his dribbling skills, speed, and powerful shot, and is remembered for his contributions to the game of football. Pele was named the "Athlete of the Century" by the International Olympic Committee and is considered a national hero in Brazil. He is credited with popularising the phrase "The Beautiful Game" and was known for his electrifying play and spectacular goals.

Pele has had several health issues in recent years. In 1977, he had his right kidney removed, and in 2012 he underwent hip surgery. In 2017, he appeared in a wheelchair at an event and later collapsed from exhaustion, and in 2019 he had surgery to remove kidney stones. In September 2021, Pele had surgery to remove a tumour on the right side of his colon, and later that month he was readmitted to intensive care before being released to begin chemotherapy. In November 2022, he was taken to the hospital with "general swelling" and cardiac issues, and in December 2022 it was announced that his tumour had advanced and he required greater care due to renal and cardiac dysfunctions. On 29 December 2022, his death was announced at the age of 82.
