Rendon was suspended for four games by MLB after he had a physical confrontation with a fan in Oakland on Opening Day, 31 March 2023. Rendon reached into the stands and grabbed the shirt of the fan who allegedly called him a derogatory name. Rendon said he apologized to the fan and they resolved their issue.
