The Federated States of Micronesia is an island country in the Micronesia subregion of Oceania. The country consists of four states: Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae. Together, these states comprise of around 607 islands extending 2,900 kilometres (1,802 miles) across the archipelago of the Caroline Islands. The country's capital is Palikir, which is located on the island of Pohnpei, while its largest city, Weno, is located in the Chuuk Atoll.
Agriculture, fishing, and forestry form the backbone of the country's economy. Additionally, the country's economic growth is bolstered by revenue from fishing licenses granted to foreign fishing vessels given its rich marine biodiversity surrounding its islands.
