    Latest news on Narges Mohammadi, a prominent Iranian human rights activist and the vice president of the Defenders of Human Rights Center (DHRC), headed by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi. She is also a supporter of the anti-death penalty campaign Legam (Step by Step to Abolish the Death Penalty). She has been arrested several times for her criticisms of the Iranian government and her membership in the DHRC.

    In May 2016, she was sentenced to 16 years' imprisonment for establishing and running "a human rights movement that campaigns for the abolition of the death penalty". In 2022, she was named in the BBC 100 Women list. In 2023, Narges Mohammadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all.
