About our Mo Brooks news

Latest news on Mo Brooks, a former U.S. representative for Alabama's 5th congressional district, who served from 2011 to 2023. He was a member of the Republican Party and a founding member of the Freedom Caucus. He retired from the House to run for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Richard Shelby in 2022, but lost in the runoff to Katie Britt, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

Brooks was a strong ally of Trump until he withdrew his endorsement of Brooks in March 2022. Since then, Brooks has been an outspoken critic of Trump and accused him of abandoning the MAGA agenda. Brooks was also involved in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election and spoke at the rally on January 6, 2021, before the storming of the Capitol. He is facing a subpoena from the House select committee investigating the January 6 attack, but he said he is willing to testify only in public and only about matters related to that day.
