Roiland also created and voices the titular character in the Hulu animated series 'Solar Opposites'. He has also done voice acting work in other animated shows such as 'Fish Hooks' and 'Adventure Time'. Roiland is also a co-founder of the virtual reality studio Squanch Games, which developed the game 'Accounting+'.
In August 2020, Roiland was charged and arrested with felony domestic battery and false imprisonment in Orange County, California, in connection with an alleged incident in January 2020 involving an unnamed woman he was reportedly dating at the time. Roiland was released on bail, after pleading not guilty, and pre-trial is scheduled for 27 April 2023. Knowledge of these events were not public until NBC News reported on the matter in January 2023. A day after news of the charges broke, American musician Allie Goertz tweeted screenshots of sexual and offensive private Twitter messages that had been sent to her by Roiland. Adult Swim announced later that month that Roiland had been dismissed from Rick and Morty due to the charges and his roles would be recast for future seasons.
