    About our Laver Cup news

Latest news on the Laver Cup, an international tennis tournament where Team Europe are put up against Team World. Get the latest announcements, results, match-ups and player news on our dedicated feed.

The Laver Cup is a team tennis tournament that features some of the best men's players from Europe and the rest of the world. It is named after the legendary Australian player Rod Laver, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time.

The format of the Laver Cup is similar to the Ryder Cup in golf. Each team consists of six players, with four of them selected based on their ATP rankings and two of them chosen as captain's picks. The captains are usually former players who have won multiple Grand Slam titles. The current captains are Björn Borg for Team Europe and John McEnroe for Team World.

The tournament lasts for three days, with four matches played each day. There are three singles matches and one doubles match per day, with each match worth one point on the first day, two points on the second day, and three points on the third day. The first team to reach 13 points out of a total of 24 points available will win the Laver Cup. If the points are tied at 12-12 at the end of all matches, a fifth match on Sunday will be played to determine the winner.

The sixth edition of the Laver Cup was held in Vancouver from 22 to 24 September 2023, at Rogers Arena. Team World defeated Team Europe 13−2. The next Laver Cup will be held in in Berlin from 20 to 22 September 2024, at Mercedes-Benz Arena.
