Latest news on Laurent Mekies, a french engineer who was formerly the Race Director for Scuderia Ferrari and is the current Team Principal of AlphaTauri.
Mekies started his Formula 1 engineering career at Arrows Grand Prix International before making the switch to Minardi as a race engineer for the teams drivers.
Following the acquisition of Minardi by Red Bull and the rebrand to Toro Rosso, the frenchman was promoted to the team's chief engineer in 2005. After a brief spell as safety director for the FIA between 2014 and 2018, Mekies joined Scuderia Ferrari in 2018 and was promoted to Deputy Team Principal and Racing Director of the prancing horses.
Mekies replaced the long-time Team Principal of Red Bull's sister-team AlphaTauri, Franz Tost, at the start of the 2024 season.
