Shah Rukh Khan was born on 2 November 1965 in New Delhi, India. His father was a businessman and his mother was a social worker. He has an elder sister named Shehnaz. He completed his schooling from St. Columba's School in Delhi, where he excelled in academics and sports. He then graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from Hansraj College, University of Delhi. He also enrolled for a master's degree in mass communications, but dropped out to pursue acting.
He has received many awards and honours for his work, including 14 Filmfare Awards, 8 of which are for Best Actor. He has also been conferred the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2005, the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2007, and the Legion of Honour by the Government of France in 2014. He has also been recognised by various media outlets as one of the most successful film stars in the world.
He is married to Gauri Chhibber since 1991, and they have three children: Aryan, Suhana and AbRam.
