Latest news on Blue Beetle, an American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle, produced by DC Studios and the Safran Company, and directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. It is intended to be the 14th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle is a teenager who discovers that the original Blue Beetle scarab morphs into a battle suit allowing him to fight crime and travel in space.
The film was released in cinemas on 18 August 2023. It was originally planned to be a straight-to-streaming release for HBO Max, but the plan was changed in December 2021 and the movie is now getting a theatrical release. The first trailer for the film was released on 3 April 2023. It shows Jaime discovering the scarab and its abilities, meeting his mentor Ted Kord (voiced by Kevin Conroy), and facing off against Carapax and his army of drones.
