About our FireEye news
Latest news on FireEye, a US-based cybersecurity company that provides products and services to protect organisations from various types of cyberattacks, such as malware, ransomware, phishing, denial-of-service and advanced persistent threats. The company was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Milpitas, California.
FireEye is known for its expertise in investigating and responding to high-profile cyber incidents, such as the Sony Pictures hack in 2014, the Democratic National Committee hack in 2016 and the SolarWinds hack in 2020. The company also publishes research and threat intelligence on various cyber threat actors and groups, such as APT28 (Fancy Bear), APT29 (Cozy Bear), APT41 (Barium) and UNC2452 (Dark Halo).
In December 2020, FireEye disclosed that it had been breached by a sophisticated state-sponsored hacker group, believed to be APT29, who stole some of its internal tools used for simulating cyberattacks against its customers. The company said it had not seen any evidence that the stolen tools had been used maliciously or that any customer data had been compromised.
