About our ATACMS news

Latest news on ATACMS, also known as Army Tactical Missile System, a long-range guided missile that can strike targets beyond the range of conventional artillery. It is manufactured by Lockheed Martin, a US defense company, and can be launched from the M270 or HIMARS platforms. ATACMS has a range of up to 190 miles (300 km), a speed of over Mach 3, and a GPS-aided inertial navigation guidance system. It can carry a 500-lb class blast fragmentation warhead or a unitary warhead. It has been used in several conflicts, such as the Persian Gulf War, the War in Afghanistan, and the Iraq War.

The US is close to providing Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles for the first time, after months of rebuffing Kyiv's pleas. The missiles would give Ukraine the ability to strike targets beyond the range of conventional artillery, hitting supply lines, railways, and command and control locations behind the Russian-held territory.
