Final Fantasy 16 is set in the fictional world of Valisthea, a land divided by six nations that draw power from magical Crystals. Each nation has a Dominant, a human who can channel the power of an Eikon, a summoned monster that represents each nation's Crystal. The game follows the story of Clive Rosfield, a knight who becomes the host of the dark Eikon Ifrit after his brother Joshua, the original Dominant of their nation, is killed by an enemy Eikon. Clive embarks on a quest for revenge against Ifrit's master and to stop a mysterious plague called the Blight that threatens to consume Valisthea.
