Latest news on Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical complex and central hospital in the Gaza Strip. It is located in the neighborhood of northern Rimal in Gaza City within the Gaza Governorate.
Recently, the hospital has been at the center of significant events. In November 2023, Al-Shifa Hospital was under Israeli siege and bombardment, which forced many doctors and civilians to flee the facility, risking their lives in the process.
The Israeli army has been heavily involved in the area around Al-Shifa Hospital as part of their ground offensive in northern Gaza. They ordered the evacuation of the hospital, and subsequently, on 23 November 2023, the Israeli army arrested the director of Al-Shifa Hospital, along with other doctors.
Israeli troops reported finding a command centre, weapons, and combat gear belonging to Palestinian Hamas militants within the premises of Al-Shifa Hospital.
