    About our Rhodes news

Latest news on Rhodes, the largest and historical capital of the Dodecanese islands of Greece, located in the southeastern Aegean Sea.

Rhodes has a rich and diverse history, culture, and landscape, attracting millions of tourists every year. It is known for its medieval Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its ancient monuments such as the Acropolis of Lindos and the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and its beautiful beaches and natural attractions such as the Valley of the Butterflies.

Rhodes was hit by wildfires in July 2023, with the fires burning thousands of hectares of forest land and threatening several villages and tourist resorts. Hundreds of people were evacuated and dozens of firefighters were deployed to battle the flames. The Greek government declared a state of emergency and requested international assistance. Some British tourists were also stranded on the island due to flight cancellations.
