    About our Bidzina Ivanishvili news

Latest news on Bidzina Ivanishvili, a Georgian businessman and politician who is the founder of the Georgian Dream party, which has been influential in Georgian politics.

Ivanishvili made his fortune in Russia during the 1990s following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. He invested in metals and banking, eventually becoming one of the richest men in the world according to Forbes. His net worth was estimated to be around $4.5 billion in 2021.

In the 2012 parliamentary elections, Georgian Dream defeated the ruling United National Movement, and Ivanishvili became Prime Minister. He resigned in November 2013, just over a year after taking office.

In 2023, a Singapore court ordered Credit Suisse to pay $926 million to Ivanishvili for losing part of his fortune. This ruling is considered one of the most significant legal awards made against the bank. Ivanishvili had entrusted $1.1 billion to Credit Suisse Trust in 2005. However, the court found that the bank had failed to act in good faith and neglected to keep his assets safe.
