The company was founded by Gautam Adani in 1988 and has over 100,000 employees worldwide. In April 2021, it became the third Indian company to reach a market capitalization of over $100 billion, and in April 2022, it reached over $200 billion. However, in January 2023, Hindenburg Research published a two-year investigation claiming that Adani had engaged in market manipulation and accounting malpractice.
