About our Burning Man news
Latest news on Burning Man, an annual event that celebrates artistic self-expression and community in the Nevada desert. It is guided by ten principles, such as radical inclusion, gifting, decommodification, and leaving no trace. The event is known for its large-scale art installations, creative vehicles, and the burning of a giant wooden effigy on the last night.
In 2023, the festival was affected by heavy rains that turned the site into a mud pit. Tropical Storm Hilary brought heavy rains to the area, turning the playa into a wet and muddy campsite. The entrance and exit roads were closed, and attendees were told to shelter in place and conserve food and water. The weather also disrupted some of the planned art burns and other activities. The festival ended on Monday, 4 September 2023.
Burning Man 2024 is expected to be held from around Sunday 25 August – Monday 2 September. The event is always held the week prior to and including Labor Day weekend.
