Latest news on ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, a regional organisation of 10 countries that aims to promote economic growth, social progress, cultural development, peace and security in Southeast Asia. The 10 member states of ASEAN are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. ASEAN was established in 1967 by the Bangkok Declaration and has since expanded its scope and influence in the region and beyond. ASEAN has a population of over 600 million and a combined GDP of more than $3.9 trillion as of 2023.
