Latest news and updates on Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, who in 2024 became the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. In order to achieve this feat Usyk had to beat Britain's Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
The Ukrainian first defeated Anthony Joshua in 2021 when they met at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Over 12 rounds Usyk won by unanimous decision and took home the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles. He then successfully defended these titles in a rematch against Joshua and then against fellow Brit Daniel Dubois.
In May 2024 Usyk finally faced off against Tyson Fury who held the WBC heavyweight title. The fight which took place in Saudi Arabia allowed for the victor to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. After 12 rounds Usyk overcame Fury with a split decision.
