After a short stint in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship during the 1950’s, Mercedes returned to the sport in 1994 as an engine supplier which carried McLaren Racing and Brawn GP to respective World Championships.
The team then entered the sport as a constructor following the sale of Brawn in 2009 and have proved to be a dominant force ever since. The German team became a dynasty, winning eight consecutive Constructors’ championships in the turbo-hybrid era with Sir Lewis Hamilton breaking numerous records on his way to achieving seven Drivers’ Championships.
The British driver is joined by his compatriot, George Russell as the team’s current full-time drivers led by team principal and CEO, Toto Wolff. Mick Schumacher currently serves as the team’s reserve driver.
