About our Stephen Tompkinson news

Latest news on Stephen Tompkinson, an English actor who has appeared in various television shows and films, such as Chancer, Drop the Dead Donkey, Ballykissangel, Brassed Off, Grafters, Wild at Heart, and DCI Banks. He was born in 1965 in Stockton-on-Tees and trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.

He has recently been in the news because he was accused of causing grievous bodily harm to a man named Karl Poole, who he confronted outside his home in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, on 30 May 2021. He allegedly punched Mr Poole in the head, causing him to fall and fracture his skull. He claimed he acted in self-defence and only pushed Mr Poole after he and his friend became aggressive towards him.

He was found not guilty of the charge by a jury at Newcastle Crown Court on 11 May 2023. He told the court that his career had been "put on hold" because of the case and that he was "relieved" by the verdict.
