About our Worldcoin news

Latest news on Worldcoin, a cryptocurrency project co-founded by Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, a research organization that aims to create artificial general intelligence (AGI). Worldcoin's vision is to create a global financial and identity network that is accessible to everyone, regardless of their location, wealth or status.

Worldcoin has three main components:

- World ID: A digital passport that verifies that the user is a real human and not an AI bot. To get a World ID, the user has to scan their iris using a device called an Orb, which is a silver sphere that can be found in various locations around the world. The iris scan is encrypted and stored on a blockchain, ensuring privacy and security.
- Worldcoin tokens (WLD): A cryptocurrency that can be used for transactions, savings and investments. Users who scan their iris with an Orb receive some WLD tokens for free as an incentive. The tokens can also be bought and sold on crypto exchanges. The token supply is fixed at 10 billion WLD.
- World App: A mobile application that allows users to access their World ID, manage their WLD tokens, and interact with other users and services on the Worldcoin network. The app also provides educational content and tools to help users learn about crypto and finance.

Worldcoin was launched in July 2023 and has attracted over 2 million users from its beta period. The project is backed by prominent investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Coinbase Ventures, Reid Hoffman and Peter Thiel.
